Drake Bets $1 Million On NBA Finals And NHL Stanley Cup

Toronto-based rapper Drake is known for betting on almost every major sports championship, and this time around he is going with the Dallas Mavericks to win the NBA Finals and the Edmonton Oilers to take home the NHL Stanley Cup.

Drake posted on Instagram Wednesday night, a picture of two bets that he placed on the gambling platform, Stake (which he is sponsored by).

Drake is risking $500,000 on the Mavs to beat the Boston Celtics in the 2024 Finals. To note, he put his money on the underdogs at +180 odds, which would profit him $875,000 if they pull off the upset.

Then in a separate bet, Drake put up another $500,000 on the Edmonton Oilers to beat the Florida Panthers. On the same note, the Panthers are the favorites to win the Stanley Cup (-135), so Drake is risking half a million on the Oilers at +110 odds, which would net him $525,000 dollars if they win.

That is to say, if both bets win, he will be able to cash out $2.4 million ($1.4 million profit).

Drake put the following caption on his Instagram post:

"Dallas cause I'm a Texan, Oilers are self-explanatory."

For those who might not know, there used to be an NFL team called the Houston Oilers (1960-1996), so in saying this, Drake was implying he is rooting for the Canadian hockey team simply because of their correlation with Texas.

In view of the bets, many fans are now worried that their favorite team is in jeopardy of losing, all because Drake picked them to win. For the reason being that, Drake has been known to pick the wrong winners more often than not, and as a result, there has been a stigma placed on the music artist that whichever teams he bets on, they are then susceptible to the "Drake curse."

All in all, even if Drake gets the picks wrong he really doesn't have to worry, as the betting site Stake is the one who is presumably funding his bets in exchange for the promotion.
