Draymond Green is Back to Whacking Opponents

Three things in life are certain: death, taxes, and Draymond Green resorting to unnecessary violence on the basketball court.

Green's most recent offense came on Thursday night, when his Golden State Warriors team took on the New York Knicks in Madison Square Garden. While Green and Knicks guard Dante DiVincenzo were jostling for a rebound beneath the basket, Green sent his entire arm slamming into DiVincenzo's face — which resulted in the Knicks guard receiving a bloody nose.

Green was not called for a foul during the play, as it was ruled to be accidental by the game's referees — although that didn't stop Kicks fans showering Green with boo's while DiVincenzo was lying on the court, clutching his face.

It is worth nothing that Green and DiVincenzo have been teammates in the past, with the latter playing in the Warriors during the 2022-23 season. Considering that two former teammates would appear to be on good terms, perhaps Green's second quarter violence was truly inadvertent.

Still, considering all of the other violence Green has displayed during this NBA season, it's tough to give him the benefit of the doubt when situations like these continue to occur.

Luckily for already shorthanded Knicks, DiVincenzo managed to avoid a serious injury from the incident, and returned to the court in the second half of Thursday's game — although his presence wasn't enough to stop Golden State from beating New York, by a score of 110-99.

Although whacking DiVincenzo might have been an accident, Green's anger at someone else after the game ended was very intentional.

During a postgame interview with Bonta Hill, Chris Mullin, and Festus Ezeli of NBC Sports Bay Area, Green was asked by Hill his thoughts on playing at Madison Square Garden.

"Bonta, I'm shocked you're talking to me. The way you were talking about me when I got suspended, I am very shocked you're talking to me," Green responded, before giving a very curt answer to Hill's question and staring silently at the camera for a few seconds.

Considering that Green has clearly been keeping receipts, perhaps DiVincenzo did something back during their days as teammates that Green demanded retribution for. Perhaps not. Either way, Green is going to run out of guys to whack if he keeps this current rate up.
