According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Howard recently sought a protective order against Amber Rose Howard, who is also known professionally as Amy Luciani.
In the filing, Howard alleges that his former spouse engaged in a pattern of dishonesty and manipulation throughout their relationship. Among his most notable claims, Howard alleges she misrepresented her ability to have children prior to their marriage.
Howard further claims that his ex-wife launched what he described as a campaign of false accusations and defamatory statements following the deterioration of their relationship.
According to the filing, Howard alleges those statements damaged his reputation and cost him professional opportunities.
The former NBA champion also disputed allegations that he used cocaine, claiming in the filing that he has never used the drug and that the accusation negatively impacted his career.
Amber has denied Howard's allegations, according to TMZ.
The legal dispute comes amid an already contentious divorce process between the two.
Court records indicate the parties have since reached an agreement requiring them to stay at least 100 yards apart and refrain from harassing one another on social media.
As part of the arrangement, Howard was awarded sole use of his Georgia residence. Reports indicate he will also provide $10,000 to assist Amber with relocation expenses.
Howard, an eight-time NBA All-Star and former Defensive Player of the Year, last played professionally in Taiwan after concluding a career that included stops with the Orlando Magic, Los Angeles Lakers, Houston Rockets and several other NBA teams.
