The former NBA star filed for divorce Monday, saying the marriage is "irretrievably broken," according to court documents obtained by TMZ.

The filing comes after months of public tension between Howard and his wife, who also goes by the name Amy Luciani. The couple married in January 2025, but their relationship has reportedly been rocky ever since.

In fact, Amber filed for divorce herself last July, just six months after the wedding.

Now Howard has taken the same step.

According to reports, both sides filed divorce paperwork on the same day this week, though Howard's filing was processed first. The eight-time NBA All-Star is also requesting exclusive use of his Georgia mansion, even though the two are still reportedly living in the home together.

The situation has drawn even more attention after Amber recently posted a social media video making serious allegations involving Howard's daughter. TMZ reported that Child Protective Services had become involved, though Howard has not publicly addressed the claims.

Police have also reportedly been called to the home several times in recent weeks for different incidents.

Howard, the No. 1 overall pick of the Orlando Magic in 2004, enjoyed a long NBA career that included stops with the Los Angeles Lakers, Houston Rockets and several others.

The three-time Defensive Player of the Year was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2025.
