According to NBC 4 Los Angeles, Zaire was arrested by the Burbank Police Department on Sunday. He faces three charges — felony domestic violence, criminal threats, and false imprisonment. The station reports that an emergency protective issue has been ordered.
NBC 4's sources said that police were called to a home in Burbank at approximately 5:30 p.m. after someone called 911 and reported a woman screaming. The police arrived and reportedly found Zaire and a woman, who had lacerations on her face.
The police spoke to both parties at the home before ultimately placing the 24-year-old Zaire under arrest. They also removed a handgun from the home. Zaire then paid a $50,000 bond.
NBC 4 Los Angeles reports that the case will be forwarded to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office for possible charges.
Zaire played high school basketball at Sierra Canyon School in Los Angeles. He then moved to the NBA's G-League.
He spent one season (2021-22) with the Salt Lake City Stars of the Western Conference. He played in 12 games, starting one, while averaging 18.7 minutes played, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.8 points.
Zaire also spent time playing basketball overseas. This includes time with the Cape Town Tigers, a team that previously competed in the South African National Championship, Basketball National League, and Basketball Africa League.
Wade, of course, is one of the NBA's most famous players. He spent 16 seasons in the league — 15 with the Miami Heat — and he won three NBA titles. He also led the league by averaging 30.2 points per game during the 2008-09 season.
He earned All-Star honors 13 times, and he earned a spot on the NBA's 75th Anniversary Team. Wade retired from the NBA after the 2018-19 season, his final run with the Heat. He has since been inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.
