The Chicago Bulls, San Antonio Spurs, and Sacramento teams finalized a trade that sends star point guard De'Aaron Fox to the Spurs and Zach Lavine to the Kings according to ESPN NBA Insider Shams Charania.
"Sacramento is finalizing a trade to send De'Aaron Fox to the San Antonio Spurs in a multi-team trade that moves Chicago Bulls' Zach LaVine to the Kings, sources tell ESPN," the insider tweeted on February 2.
Fans React to De'Aaron Fox, Zach Lavine Trade
After the move, fans went ballistic with their reactions on social media.
"Giving Wemby a weapon. This league's so planned. Ratings get down and suddenly all the stars start moving," one fan said on X, formerly known as Twitter.
"ONE OF THE BEST TRADE DEADLINES IN NBA HISTORY," another fan added.
"Spurs' future is crazy with Fox, Castle & Wemby," another user said.
It can't be stated enough how this deal shakes up the entire landscape not just the entire Western Conference, but the NBA as a whole.
It's not often that a star player of De'Aaron Fox's caliber requests a trade in the middle of the season. Especially to a team that is currently in 12th place in their conference. But that just speaks volumes to just how special Spurs star center Victor Wembanyama is. In just his second NBA season, the 21-year-old phenom is headed to his second All-Star game.
With a young combo guard like Fox having a shiny new 7'4 alien as his co-star, the Spurs could make a run at the playoffs this season. And with both stars just entering their prime they could be a legitimate title contender for years to come.
