Former Louisville Cardinal facing suspension after throwing ref to the floor in D-League

That's definitely going to earn him a suspension.

The National Basketball Referees Association is calling for the suspension of D-League and former Louisville Cardinal Montrezl Harrell. Harrell's Rio Grande Valley Vipers were playing the Bakersfield Jam on Saturday and he got tangled up with Derek Cooke Jr. after the final buzzer.

The two got into a shoving match and referee Jason Goldberg got in the middle of them to try and break it up. That failed and he ended up flying to the floor.

The National Basketball Referees Association wasn't too happy about the incident and released this statement:

"After carefully reviewing videotape and related evidence concerning this incident, we have reached the inescapable conclusion that Harrell committed a deliberate assault and battery against Referee [Jason] Goldenberg," NBRA general counsel Lee Seham said. "Anything less than a multiple game suspension would constitute a green light for violence against officials."

Harrell had appeared in 38 games for the Houston Rockets this season after being selected by them in the second round of the 2015 NBA Draft.
