According to ESPN's Shams Charania, Golden State plans to pursue LeBron James in free agency while also exploring the possibility of acquiring Anthony Davis in a trade as the franchise looks to reshape its roster.

Those plans appeared to gain momentum when Draymond Green declined his $27.6 million player option, a move that gives the Warriors additional flexibility as they search for ways to upgrade the roster.

Green and the Warriors are still expected to work out a new contract, but restructuring his deal could help create financial room for other moves.

James has long been viewed as a potential target for Golden State, though early indications suggested he would remain with the Lakers. With contract talks between James and Los Angeles reportedly failing to gain traction, however, the Warriors are believed to see an opening.

Golden State is also monitoring Davis' situation, according to Charania. One league belief is that pairing Davis with James again could make the Warriors an even more attractive destination for the four-time NBA MVP.

The two stars helped lead the Lakers to the 2020 NBA championship and have remained close throughout their careers.

Landing Davis, however, would likely require the Warriors to part with Jimmy Butler in any deal because of salary-matching requirements.

That scenario appears unlikely for now.

Both Butler and his longtime agent, Bernie Lee, have said the Warriors have consistently communicated that they want Butler to remain with the organization as he continues recovering from ACL surgery.

In short, Golden State's focus appears to be on keeping its options open.

Whether that ultimately leads to James, Davis, both, or neither, the Warriors have made one thing clear: They're expected to be among the NBA's most aggressive teams this offseason.
