Illegal NBA Betting Speculation Resurfaces Following Terry Rozier’s Recent Performance

Earlier this year, Miami Heat guard Terry Rozier was investigated by the NBA for his role in an alleged illegal gambling scheme.

That is, federal prosecutors were looking into claims that Rozier was involved in manipulating his performance during the 2022-23 season, when he was playing for the Charlotte Hornets.

In view of a game on March 23, 2023, New Orleans Pelicans' 115-96 win vs. Hornets, Rozier scored five points, grabbed four rebounds, and dished out two assists in 10 minutes of playing time. He left the game early, and coincidentally there was a "big rush of money on 'under' prop bets during the game."

And while this investigation seemingly seemed to be a false alarm, during Wednesday night's 112-107 loss vs. the Cleveland Cavaliers, these accusations reemerged.

Rozier had 12 points (3-for-14 FG; 1-for-8 3P), one rebound, two assists, one steal, and four turnovers.

Yet the stats didn't even tell the full story, as multiple times throughout the game, it appeared the ninth-year veteran was lost out there on the court.

And this had fans questioning if he was indeed guilty of making sure his "unders" hit on his prop bets.

Well at least hopefully he betted "More" on his turnovers line.

One fan on X commented: "Them Terry Rozier gambling allegations gotta be real. Bro in DEBT He in way too deep with them people."

During crunch time vs. the Cavs, Rozier appeared to be chucking up ill-advised shots, as he was even seen air-balling attempted three-pointers with under two minutes left, down by 1.

To note, head coach Eric Spoelstra played Rozier 22-of-24 possible minutes in the second half, and in that time on the court, he failed to make a field goal (0/8 FG) and contributed three turnovers.

Since the start of the new year, Rozier actually ranks last in 3PT% (among players with 125+ attempts), as he is currently shooting 26.1% with 33 made 3's, to go with 33 turnovers, and 33 fouls since January 1.

At 30 years old, on a four-year $96 million dollar contract, Rozier is averaging 11.8 points (39.9% FG; 29.4% 3PT), 3.9 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game.

At this point Heat fans are hoping that the FBI may find something amid investigations.
