Joel Embiid

Joel Embiid is All of Us While Attending an MLB Game

Baseball fans watching the exciting finish of the Philadelphia Phillies and Houston Astros game on Monday night couldn't get enough of Joel Embiid in the crowd.

Professional athletes attending other games outside their league isn't anything new. What made this particular instance something that the broadcast and fans couldn't get away from was the sheer focus exhibited by the big man.

Embiid, who just won a gold medal at the Olympics with Team USA, was shown many times over the last few innings, including the eventual walk-off hit by Bryce Harper, sitting among the crowd behind home plate with his iPhone tilted sideways in anticipation of capturing something.

This is a super relatable moment for anyone who has ever attended a game. Even though there are hundreds of professional cameras and every angle being captured - all of which ready to upload to YouTube in minutes - there's something about having that raw footage at the palm of your hands captured by your own eyes.

The home broadcast panned to the Philadelphia 76ers center multiple times whenever a major moment was close to happening, and every time he had his phone in hand ready to record. Even fans behind him posted videos of themselves filming Embiid, who remained determined to capture a big moment.

Following Harper's game-winning single in the bottom of the 10th inning, the camera quickly panned to Embiid who, you guessed it, was filming the spectacle calm, cool, and collected as fans around him were celebrating. It was an impressive feat, to be honest.

Even the look he gives after realizing that what he filmed was actually pretty good.

Embiid is never one to shy away from social media, so of course the video was quickly posted by the former NBA MVP.

Upon review, credit has to be given where it's due, Joel Embiid knows how to work an iPhone. Always film horizontal, never vertical!
