A new comedy series from Mindy Kaling, "Running Point," follows Isla Gordon (Hudson) as she takes over one of the most famous professional basketball organizations in the country.
As the Netflix synopsis states, "Isla, the only sister in a family of brothers, is ambitious and often overlooked. But when her brother is forced to resign from his position as president of the Los Angeles Waves, she's appointed in his place.
"Now that she's stepping up into the family business, she's going to have to prove to her skeptical brothers, the board, and the larger sports community that she was the right choice for the job. Over the course of the series, she sets out to do just that — especially in the unpredictable, male-dominated world of sports."
The ball’s in her court now.

The 10-episode Netflix series also features a sizable list of regulars. Brenda Song plays Ali Lee, the Waves' intimidating chief of staff. Max Greenfield plays Lev Levy, Isla's pediatrician fiance. Drew Tarver is Sandy Gordon, Isla's brother and the Waves' chief financial officer. Scott MacArthur is Ness Gordon, Isla's other brother who serves as the team's general manager.
The cast list continues with some of the players from the Waves' roster. Toby Sandeman plays two-time champion Marcus Winfield, Chet Hanks plays point guard/aspiring rapper Travis Bugg, Uche Agada plays former D-League star Dyson Gibbs, and Dane DiLiegro plays Eastern European star Badrag Knauss.
Mindy Kaling, Ike Barinholtz, and David Stassen serve as writers and executive producers on the series. Stassen also serves as showrunner.
Buss and the Lakers' manager of special projects Linda Rambis are executive producers with Hudson and Howard Klein. Jordan Rambis is the producer.
Netflix has not released the trailer for "Running Point." The streamer has only provided some promotional images. However, Netflix announced that the series will release on Feb. 27.
