Ken Griffey Jr. And Sr. In Attendance To Watch LeBron/Bronny Become First Father-Son Duo In The NBA

Now after stepping on the court together, in Tuesday night's season opener vs. the Minnesota Timberwolves, they will forever go down as the first father-son duo to play in an official NBA game.

The other notable time this happened in sports is when Ken Griffey Sr. and Jr. teamed up on the Seattle Mariners, as the 40-year-old father and 20-year-old son graced the outfield together during the 1990 season.

That is to say, Griffey Jr. previously pointed out during an interview, a couple years back, that he and his dad will go to the game if Bronny and LeBron ever play at the same time.

Then when this looked like it will become a reality, Griffey Jr. confirmed he would be there to witness the shared accomplishment between both families.

"It's a big deal for my dad and I to be there," Griffey said. "We made history, now we get to watch history"

After Bronny found out that the Griffey's will be there to watch history be made, he emphasized how special this moment will be.

"It's going to be insane. Only two families to do it, so it's going to be a crazy experience, especially with what they've done," James Jr. said.

Notably, the father-son MLB duo played together for 51 games across two seasons (1990-1991), and they even hit back-to-back home runs in the first inning vs. the California Angels on September 14, 1990.

In view of this, LeBron has hinted at playing a couple more years in the NBA, and undoubtedly throughout his illustrious 21-year career so far, he has defied 'Father Time.' Fans are hoping he and Bronny can share many more great memories together on the court.

With this in mind, ESPN NBA analyst Shams Charania noted that 39-year-old LeBron is planning to "play at least two more years... he could potentially go three."

All in all, fans are waiting for Bronny to toss an alley oop to his dad, as this may be able to somewhat compare to the Griffey duo homering right after each other.
