Lakers could be making the biggest mistake of the offseason if these rumors come true

The Lakers could really screw up the NBA Draft.

The Los Angeles Lakers are bound to have a top three pick in this year's NBA Draft. In fact, they have a greater than 50 percent chance of getting it and a 19.9 percent chance of nabbing the top pick. They had the second-worst record in the league at 17-65 and it sounds like they don't want a rebuild no matter how much it's looking like they need one.

Colin Cowherd says he has two separate sources saying that the Lakers will in fact deal their pick if they land the No. 1 overall pick. The Lakers are in total denial about a rebuild and truly believe that getting one superstar will help them get back to being one of the prominent franchises in the league.

The Lakers continuing to think that teams will just give them what they is just getting to the point of ridiculousness. Teams are not going to let themselves be swindled into giving up an arm and a leg for the top pick, especially if they don't necessarily need it —- like any playoff team with championship aspirations.

However, this is all hypothetical as of now since the lottery hasn't happened and we won't know the results until May 17th. For all we know, there could be some nonsense that goes down and the Lakers get screwed out of their pick altogether. If they do not get a pick in the top three they must give up their pick to the Philadelphia 76ers who may end up with two picks in the top three and could even bundle them for a superstar themselves if they wanted.
