LOS ANGELES — In view of the devastating wildfires that are spreading across the greater Los Angeles area, the Lakers and Hornets game has been postponed and will be rescheduled at a later date (per NBA insider Chris Haynes).

To emphasize the catastrophe this has caused to many, Lakers head coach JJ Redick was one of the citizens that reportedly lost his home.

In a press conference on Tuesday, the 40-year-old manager previously revealed that his family was forced to evacuate their Pacific Palisades residence.
"Thoughts and prayers to everyone in Palisades right now, it's where I live, [along with] my family and my wife's family, my wife's twin sister, they've evacuated," Redick said. "I know a lot of people are freaking out right now, including my family. And with the sounds of things with the winds coming tonight, I know a lot of people are scared. So just want to acknowledge that. Thoughts and prayers for sure, I hope everybody stays safe."

And now it is confirmed that their house was engulfed in the flames.
The Lakers organization released a statement: "We're heartbroken for Los Angeles. Our thoughts are with all those impacted by this unimaginable situation... And our gratitude is with the first responders and all of you who come together when we need each other the most."

The NBA released a statement:
"The entire NBA family sends its thoughts and support to the community of Los Angeles during this challenging time... We are grateful for the thousands of local firefighters and first responders who have demonstrated enormous bravery. Our prayers remain with those affected by the unimaginable devastation caused by the wildfires."
With over 100,000 people having to evacuate from their homes, it is unknown when the LA sporting events will be played. To note, the LA Kings vs. Calgary Flames NHL game on Wednesday was already postponed as well.
In view of the upcoming NFL wildcard playoff game between the LA Rams vs. Minnesota Vikings, at this time it is scheduled to take place Monday (5:00 pm PT) at SoFi Stadium, but the league said they are prepared to move the venue to State Farm Stadium in Phoenix, Arizona if necessary.
