Lakers shock basketball world ahead of NBA trade deadline

This is madness!

The Los Angeles Lakers were reportedly a part of a few trades talks ahead of the NBA's trade deadline this week, but instead of making a blockbuster trade, they've found another way to make headlines. After going through four of the worst seasons in the franchise's history, the Lakers cleaning out some of the front office.

So not only did they make this move at a pretty peculiar time, but did so with a guy who has never been in a front office role. He's owned parts of teams like MLB's L.A. Dodgers and the WNBA's L.A. Sparks, but has never had to make managerial decisions and now he has about 50 hours before the trade deadline if he plans on making any serious moves.

The move for the Lakers came a little late as Jim Buss and Kupchak have not been able to bring the Lakers back to glory since winning the division in 2012 and then not making the playoffs or even coming close the following years. The team hasn't been able to attract top notch talent in free agency and gave Kobe Bryant a fat contract that didn't allow them to grow and develop the young talent necessary for a rebuild.

Things are about get weird in L.A. and Johnson is going to have to be the one steering the ship back toward normalcy and winning ways. And it looks like Kupchak and Buss aren't the only victims:
