LaMelo Ball Ran Over A Kid's Foot While Speeding Off In His Car

NBA guard LaMelo Ball had reportedly ran over an 11-year-old's foot, after leaving the Spectrum Center arena in Charlotte, during a Hornets fan event that took place on October 7, 2023.

The victim, who has been identified as Angell Joseph, was waiting for an autograph from Ball at "Purple & Teal Day," which was a free activity for fans to have a chance to meet the Hornets players.

Joseph's mother, Tamaria McRae, recalled how the situation unfolded, "[my son] was like, 'LaMelo, I love you. I love you, give me your autograph. Can you sign it for me?'"

That is when 22-year-old Ball apparently not only ignored the fan, according to the mom, but also broke the 11-year-old's foot when he sped off in his car.

The lawyer of the family, Cameron DeBrun, spoke on the unfortunate event that took place regarding a kid and his favorite player, "This is his hero, his idol, and he got run over by him."

With this in mind, LaMelo has been known to speed out of the Hornets player's parking area, as there are many videos on the internet of his reckless driving, which fans have captured of him exiting the arena.

Both the Hornets and Ball are being sued over this matter.

The lawyer says there would have been a claim filed with Ball's insurance to pay for the medical bills, however, the police report was missing key information, "like Ball's insurer and even his name."

That is to say, Ball, who missed most of the season dealing with his own ankle injuries this year, now presumably may have a new found empathy for the kid's foot he injured.

Notably, Ball injured his ankle in a game vs. the Utah Jazz (1/27/24), and then missed the remainder of the 2023-24 NBA season to rehab his ankle.

In 22 games this season, the third pick in the 2020 NBA Draft (Rookie of the Year), averaged a career-high 23.9 points, 5.1 rebounds, 8.0 assists, and 1.8 steals per game.
