Shortly after highlighting "negativity" in national sports media, LeBron James announced he was leaving social media for the time being.

His goodbye message received thousands of responses, but they were not the type that the four-time NBA champion may have expected.
While some people on social media offered support and told James to take all the time he needed, others asked if the departure had something to do with some potential "legal troubles." They specifically pointed to Diddy and the numerous lawsuits against him.

"Are you going to a Diddy Party," one person asked on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter. Many others shared a similar sentiment with comments on social media.
Not all of the comments referenced Diddy or scandalous situations. Some critics just said that James was seeking attention. They said that he would return to social media in a matter of hours or days.

"LeBron James is off of X? Christmas came early this year," another person posted after seeing the news.
Regardless of the reason for the departure, this isn't the first time that James has taken a break from social media. He also did so back in 2015 while playing for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
James posted a message on X on April 18, 2015, that said, "Zero dark thirty-23 activated #StriveForGreatness." It followed the 2014-15 regular season.
Less than 24 hours later, James and the Cavaliers kicked off the Eastern Conference playoffs with a series against the Celtics. They won the series in four games.
The playoffs continued with James and the Cavaliers defeating the Hawks in four games. This set up an NBA Finals matchup against Steph Curry and the Warriors.
The Warriors kicked off the NBA Finals by defeating the Cavaliers 108-100 in overtime. The Cavaliers then won consecutive games to take the series lead. However, they did not finish the job. The Warriors won three consecutive games to clinch the series and the NBA title.
