Topps broke the news on Monday on X. The maker of premium trading cards showed the first look at the patch, which features stripes representing the Los Angeles Lakers, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Miami Heat. It also has text highlighting James' 23 seasons in the league.

The patch features a silhouette of the 21-time All-Star doing his pre-game chalk toss, which has become a signature move.

According to Topps, James will wear this patch in the remaining 46 games. It will not be the same one, however, as they will be removed from his jersey after each game and placed into authentic trading cards. These ultra-rare cards will inevitably skyrocket in price as collectors seek to secure each one.

James entered the league as the first overall pick in the 2003 NBA Draft. He started his career with the Cavaliers and made his debut during a game in Sacramento, where he will first show off this new patch. He scored 29 points and registered four steals during this loss.

James, the 2003 Rookie of the Year, spent seven seasons with the Cavaliers while winning two MVP awards. He then headed to the Heat, the team with which he won two more MVP awards and two of his championships.

James returned to Cleveland in 2014 and spent four more seasons with the team that drafted him. He delivered a championship to the city before ultimately heading to Los Angeles in 2018.

The Ohio native has remained with the Lakers ever since while winning another championship and continuing to pile up All-Star awards.

James is the NBA's record holder for number of seasons played, and he is the all-time leading scorer at 42,601 points and counting. He will only continue to add to this number as he showcases his special 23 seasons patch.
