Dallas Mavericks GM Nico Harrison certainly made waves when he traded franchise player Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Anthony Davis.

That is, now it appears the heartbroken fans have taken their frustration a little too far, as Harrison has been subjected to death threats (per ESPN's Tim MacMahon).
Tim MacMahon:
"Nico Harrison has been subjected to death threats…security is going to be beefed up. There will be protests outside. Lines have been crossed.” 😳

In view of how bad it's gotten, the 52-year-old has had to hire security guards to protect his home.
I don’t condone death threats and I sympathize with his family.
But I’m not sure what Nico Harrison was expecting when he traded a Dallas icon in the middle of the night without warning. https://t.co/DcWpy9Twec

A photo has gone viral of Harrison and Lakers GM Rob Pelinka out in public, where they were presumably discussing the trade.
No way they found a picture of Nico Harrison and Rob Pelinka at a coffee shop in Dallas when they first started trade talks 😭

Considering Pelinka was able to acquire the Mavs' generational superstar, one fan joked on X: "BREAKING: NBA will investigate samples of Nico Harrison's coffee to see if Rob Pelinka tampered with his drink."
With all the hate that has been directed towards Harrison, there are some fans that have shown support.
"Before you guys send hate towards Nico Harrison remember you aren't just attacking a General Manager but a father, a husband and a CHRISTIAN," one user on X wrote. "One bad move shouldn't takeaway what he's brought to this franchise. We should be looking forward to seeing him continue to lead our Mavs!"
"One big concern though is the safety of the players, the front office, going back to Dallas; we hope fans make the wise decision and remember this is a game and lives are far more important"
