Mitchell Robinson has revealed the reason why he missed his official Boston Celtics introduction. He had to deal with a family emergency.

Robinson, who won the NBA title with the New York Knicks last season, provided the update on his Instagram page. He asked his followers to pray for his brother, and he later confirmed that this brother had been hit by a car.
This car accident happened the morning that Robinson had been scheduled to be introduced by the Celtics along with Paul George and Mike Conley Jr. The Celtics ultimately said he would miss the ceremony due to personal reasons.

"I need a huge favor," Robinson said in a video on Wednesday. "I need y'all to reach out to my brother and send him a prayer. Yesterday, around 6 a.m., he was hit by a car.
"He told me to come make a video because he was in the comments, and I guess he reads what people say. I'm just like, bro, don't worry about them."
The 28-year-old center signed with the Celtics after playing a key reserve role in the Knicks' championship run. He appeared in 18 of the 19 postseason games as the Knicks went 16-3, and he averaged 5.7 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks.
He averaged 19.6 minutes per game throughout the postseason, even after undergoing surgery on his right pinkie finger. He later revealed that he sustained the injury in a moment of frustration. He hit his truck after his brother had been involved in a car accident.
It remains unclear if this is the same brother. Robinson simply said at the time that his brother can't catch a break.
The Florida native will now head into the 2026-27 NBA season much healthier, and he will contribute to the Celtics after signing a fully guaranteed three-year deal worth $47,388,600. He will earn an average salary of $15,796,200 while trying to help the Celtics reach the NBA Finals.
