NBA responds to why no technical was called for David Blatt's timeout request

LeBron James buried the Chicago Bulls in Game 4 with an epic buzzer-beating game-winner.

Things could have gone awry with 8.4 seconds remaining in the game though. With the Cleveland Cavaliers out of timeouts, David Blatt's attempt to call a timeout went unnoticed and uncalled. If Blatt had been recognized before assistant coach Ty Lue made the save, the team would have been called for a technical.

The NBA responded in its Last Two Minute report, noting, "Blatt (CLE) attempts to call a timeout when none remain. None of the three officials saw Coach Blatt signal for a timeout."

While that's possible, it sure looks like at least one ref noticed, shook his head no and continued on:

The league, and these two teams will move on to Game 5, but this doesn't look good for the officiating crew to completely miss what could have been a game-changing call.
