It may be "just" Summer League, but when Cooper Flagg and Bronny James take the court Thursday night, the spotlight — and the ticket prices — will say otherwise.

Flagg and the Dallas Mavericks are set to face James and the Los Angeles Lakers in one of the most anticipated matchups of the NBA offseason, and the buzz is already translating into box office numbers. According to Colin Salao of Front Office Sports, the average ticket price for Day 1 of the Las Vegas Summer League is a scorching $201. That figure marks the highest average ever recorded for the annual July exhibition.
General admission won't come cheap either. The "get-in" price sits at $83, while courtside seats are commanding more than $2,500 — more than a courtside view at some regular-season games.
At the center of the frenzy is Flagg, the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. The former Duke standout was a sensation in college, averaging 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game. He also shot an efficient 48.1% from the field and nearly 39% from deep. His mix of size, poise and two-way dominance has had scouts buzzing for years, and Thursday marks his first nationally televised taste of NBA action.
Standing across from him will be Bronny James, son of NBA icon LeBron James and the No. 55 pick in the 2024 draft. James split his rookie campaign between the Lakers and the G League's South Bay Lakers, showcasing flashes of promise. He averaged 21.9 points in the G League and had a breakout performance against the Milwaukee Bucks in March, tallying 17 points and five assists in 29 minutes.
Thursday's tilt will be Bronny's second game of the summer. He logged 10 points in Sunday's win over the Miami Heat, punctuating his night with a first-quarter steal and slam that lit up social media.
As for the franchises, the Mavericks and Lakers have shared a headline or two recently. Dallas GM Nico Harrison shocked the basketball world by trading Luka Doncic to Los Angeles this past season in exchange for Anthony Davis and Max Christie, setting both franchises on bold new paths. While neither Doncic nor Davis will be in action Thursday, the Summer League rosters already have fans scrambling for seats.
After Thursday, Flagg and the Mavericks are scheduled to face the San Antonio Spurs, Charlotte Hornets and Philadelphia 76ers, with a possible playoff berth to follow. But for now, it's Flagg versus Bronny in the desert, and it's already shaping up to be the hottest ticket in town since Victor Wembanyama's debut last summer.
