Oh my Lord, you Brooklyn Nets.

The lowly franchise, which plays across the bridge from the lowly New Your Knicks, has made a huge splash in free agency that will have some shaking their heads. They're signed restricted Washington Wizards free agent Otto Porter to a max contract — four years, $106 million.
RFA Otto Porter has reached agreement on a four-year, $106M max deal with Brooklyn Nets, league sources tell The Vertical.

Here's how insane that is — Kevin Durant just signed for two years and $53 million with the Golden State Warriors, which works out to the same average annual value ($26.5 million) as Otto Porter.
Those numbers are worth repeating — four years, and $106 million for the 24-year-old, four-year veteran, who, before this past season, did little. Yes, he's a former first round selection (N0. 3 overall in the 2013 draft) and last year, he did break out last season . He started 80 games and set career highs in points per game (13.4), rebounds (6.4) and shot .434 from three (also a career high).
But it's just one year, and the Nets probably figured they'd have to throw money at someone to get them to come to Brooklyn. They've done that. Now, its up to the Wizards to decide whether they want to match, or engineer a sign-and-trade, though it's hard to see who they may want off Brooklyn's roster. Then again, the Nets are well versed in the ways of trading first-round draft picks, as they did this past season.
The Washington Post has already reported that the Wizards are prepared to match any max offer to keep Porter.
