Pope Francis Shows Support For The New Orleans ‘Saints’

As the New Orleans Saints have fallen to the bottom of the standings with a 2-7 record, it appears they will need a miracle to make the playoffs.

Nevertheless, the NFC South team may have the backing of the Pope, as he referenced the 'Saints' in a Tuesday morning post on X.

"The #Saints are precious pearls and are always living and relevant, because they provide a fascinating commentary on the Gospel," Pope Francis wrote. "Their lives are an illustration of the Good News that Jesus brought to humanity: God is our Father, who loves everyone with boundless love."

While the context shows that the Pontifex may be referring to humans who exemplified exceptional holiness, he did use the hashtag for the NFL team "#Saints."

That is to say, the Saints responded to this:

"Thank you for your prayers, Pontiff, We need them."

Maybe the Pope remembered that in April of this year, Saints owner Gayle Benson gifted him a personalized jersey that read, "Papa Francesco."

That is to say, this accidental blessing hasn't been received well by all the fans.

As some have displayed a lack of faith, which is understandable considering the team started the year 2-0 and have gone on to lose seven consecutive games.
