All in all, there is much hype surrounding Fox who is coming off a breakout season in 2023-24, where he was an All-Star, won Clutch Player of the Year, and led the NBA in steals.
However, as many teams are interested in him, Fox does not want to go just anywhere.
In view of the fact, the 27-year-old is set to hit free agency in 2026, he did have a "target destination" in mind if he was not able to reach an extension with the Kings.
NBA insider Chris Haynes noted that Fox has "zeroed in" on that spot.
Sources: Kings star De’Aaron Fox is zeroed in on landing spot as franchise looks to possibly move him. Interested teams will likely be discouraged from trading for him being he’s set to become UFA in 2026. Fox’s unwillingness to sign extension has positioned the situation here.

With this in mind, it has been reported that this does not include the LA Lakers.
“I'm told the Lakers are not part of that destination of choice for De'Aaron Fox potentially.”

Considering, the recent Jimmy Butler trade talks, Miami was originally the front runners to land Fox, but now it appears that he may try to force his way somewhere else.

That is, according to the newest reports Fox hopes to take his talents to San Antonio, to join forces with Victor Wembanyama and company.

Upon this latest development, Kings fans have been disheartened that they may lose their franchise guard.
I've never wanted a player in Sacramento more than De'Aaron Fox.
how we got to this point is beyond me but this is a failure on so many levels within the Kings organization.
the day #5 gets traded will be a sad day for this city.

Many pointed out that a Fox departure will have a huge impact on the team, as superstar big man Domantas Sabonis was influenced to sign his extension (signed a 5-year/$217 million) to stay in Sacramento because of his teammate. And Fox was even a big reason why DeMar Derozan decided to come SAC town in free agency.
Certainly the coming days will be huge for Sacramento as they contemplate what to do with the future of their franchise at stake.
The Kings can't afford to get the De'Aaron Fox trade wrong. At all.
Stars are hard to come by in Sacramento to put it lightly. You get this wrong, you're right back to a long playoff drought.
