Spurs’ Zach Collins Gestures Middle Finger To Ref After Getting Ejected

The Sacramento Kings dominated the Spurs, with a 140-113 win on Friday night in San Antonio. In view of the game, tempers were boiling over for the home team, and in particular power forward Zach Collins let his emotions get the best of him.

After picking up his third foul, Collins got into it with referee Michael Smith, and the seven-year player was ultimately ejected with just over nine minutes left before halftime.

As the ref signaled that he was thrown out of the game, Collins went back towards him and gave the middle finger gesture.

To point out, at this time in the game, the Spurs were actually winning. Yet, this didn't last long... after Sabonis made both free throws and DeMar DeRozan sunk the technical free throws, the Kings went up 43-40 and led the rest of the game.

Notably, the Kings had four starters (DeRozan, Sabonis, De'Aaron Fox, Malik Monk) score 20+ in the win. And the player of the game was Sabonis, who ended the game with 22 points, 16 rebounds, and four assists.

Collins, who only played nine minutes, was starting at center in replacement of second-year superstar Victor Wembanyama (back injury). The 27-year-old finished with two rebounds and two points (that he scored right before getting ejected).

So far on the year, Collins has averaged six points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.8 assists in 14.7 minutes per game.

And to note, this is now the third straight game in which an opponent of the Kings got tossed.

And considering the obscene gesture Collins showed in tonight's game, commissioner Adam Silver may indeed hand out a few-game suspension or hefty fine.

Similarly, Celtics' Jaylen Brown was fined $25k for making a throat-slashing signal after dunking on Detroit Pistons big man Isaiah Stewart.
