Steph Curry Addresses the Constant Caitlin Clark Comparisons

Even the best basketball shooter of all time has reacted warmly to comparisons with Caitlin Clark.

The Associated Press conducted a series of interviews prior to Iowa's game Thursday — when Clark is all but guaranteed to break the women's NCAA scoring record, which is currently held by Kelsey Plum.

One of the people AP spoke with was Golden State Warriors legend Steph Curry, who was asked whether he sees any comparisons between his flawless shooting style and that of Clark. "I saw somebody break down her release time, which is pretty much identical to mine," Curry said. "And then her confidence ... . You can't help but watch when she plays, where she's shooting from, the range, the confidence, the flair. She's a performer."

"It's crazy, though," Curry continued, "Her shot is, it's like that, it's at that level. If you really watch her floor game, it's as impressive, so she's kind of the total package. ... And for her to be on the fringe of breaking that [scoring] record, and the amount of attention that she has gained over the course of these last couple years ... . It's great for her, it's great for women's basketball."

While the comparisons between Curry and Clark's shooting are obvious, we love how Curry also praised Clark's impressive "floor game" and mentioned how she's "the total package."

Like Curry, Clark's deep 3-pointers are what's usually included in highlight reels. But anybody who has watched Clark play live knows that, akin to Curry, she is a court general and passing master who can score in a plethora of ways.

Even if Clark was solely a shooter, there's no question she'd succeed. Yet, her well-rounded game is what has enabled her to becoming the best scorer in women's college basketball history.

Curry was also asked by the AP whether he has reached out to Clark. "I have," he said. "I'm always supporting and rooting on the next greatest talent, and being a resource if they ever need it."

Unfortunately for Curry, his Warriors have a game Thursday night — which means he won't be able to witness Clark break Plum's scoring record live.

Perhaps Curry's schedule will be free later this season when Clark is expected to break Pete Maravich's NCAA scoring record.
