According to TMZ, Brooks was arrested on suspicion of DUI after being pulled over in Scottsdale, Arizona, around 1 a.m. Authorities say the stop began as a routine traffic violation before the situation escalated.

After an investigation at the scene, officers placed the Suns forward under arrest.

Brooks was taken to Scottsdale City Jail, where he was processed and later released around 3:30 a.m. Police say he was respectful and cooperative throughout the encounter.

A mugshot obtained by TMZ shows Brooks looking straight into the camera while wearing a white tank top and sporting his trademark beard.

The arrest comes during an already frustrating stretch for the veteran forward. Brooks has been sidelined in recent weeks with a fractured hand and did not play in Phoenix's narrow 105-103 loss to the Chicago Bulls.

Brooks has built a reputation around the league as one of basketball's most outspoken personalities and toughest defenders. He previously played for the Memphis Grizzlies and Houston Rockets before being traded to Phoenix in the Kevin Durant blockbuster over the summer.

The Suns released a statement on the news: "We are aware of the situation involving Dillon Brooks and are gathering more information. We have no further comment at this time."

Per Hoops Wire, any potential discipline from the NBA would likely come later. The league typically waits for legal proceedings to unfold before determining whether a suspension is warranted.
