Suns’ Jusuf Nurkic And Mavs’ Naji Marshall Throw Punches, 3 Players Ejected In Wild Scene

During the Phoenix Suns vs. Dallas Mavericks game on Friday night, things got heated between both squads as there was a brawl on the court. That is, a few minutes into the third quarter, Suns center Jusuf Nurkic was called for an offensive foul after colliding with Daniel Gifford in the post.

Evidently, some words were exchanged as Mavs' Naji Marshall got in the face of Nurkic and gave a shove.

And this is when Nurkic hauled off and threw a punch, which then resulted in an attempted counter strike from Marshall, while P.J. Washington helped push the Suns big man to the ground.

Another angle of the incident showed that someone must have said something, as Nurkic turned around when he was walking up the court.

For a moment there, seemingly Nurkic and Marshall forgot they were on a basketball court at the Footprint Center and not in a boxing ring.

All in all, for each of their roles in the fight, Nurkic (3 points), Marshall (4 points), and P.J. Washington (7 points) were all ejected.

The Mavs held on to win 98-89, and now improve to 20-11 (4th seed), while the Suns drop to 15-15 (11th seed).

To note, these two teams will face-off once more this season, when the Mavericks host the Suns on March 9 (3:30 pm ET).

In the meantime, Nurkic, Marshall, and Washington will await possible further punishment from commissioner Adam Silver.
