NBA spokesman Mike Bass released a statement on the matter.

"'In March 2023, the NBA was alerted to unusual betting activity related to Terry Rozier's performance in a game between Charlotte and New Orleans [Pelicans]. The league conducted an investigation and did not find a violation of NBA rules. We are now aware of an investigation by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of New York related to this matter and have been cooperating with that investigation."

In view of the game that is in question, during the Hornets' 115-96 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans (03/23/23), Rozier scored five points, grabbed four rebounds, and dished out two assists in 10 minutes, before coming out early. And what may be correlated, there was a "big rush of money on 'under' prop bets during the game."

As many know, former Toronto Raptors player Jontay Porter was recently banned by the NBA for his involvement in an illegal betting scheme, where he purposefully withdrew from games, so that co-conspirators could win big bets while betting the "under" on his player props.

His reasoning for this was, "to get out from under large gambling debts."

In the court documents, Porter stated, "I told [Co-Conspirator 2] no blocks no steals. I'm going to play first 2-3 minute stint off the bench then when I get subbed out tell them my eye killing me again."

The investigation for current Miami Heat player Rozier is ongoing, more updates will be provided.
