The Grizzlies are the latest to fire coach despite a good season

This just makes no sense.

The Memphis Grizzlies have fired head coach Dave Joerger after three seasons at the helm. The decision came after the Grizz finished seventh in the Western Conference and were swept by the San Antonio Spurs in the first round of the playoffs. The Grizz making it to the playoffs was a miracle in itself  considering they played a league-record 28 players.

In the last post game press conference of his career, Joerger broke down in tears commending his team for such brilliant effort and professionalism throughout the course of the year.

General manager Chris Wallace said he made the final decision to fire Joerger. He commended the coach's in-game management but said, "being an NBA head coach is about more than just coaching a 48-minute game."

That's a ridiculous statement considering all of the injuries the team suffered and how much roster juggling Joerger had to do all season. Mike Conley, Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph were all out at one point or another this season so to imply Joerger was only a good in-game coach is utterly ridiculous and not fair to him at all.

Joerger was 147-99 in his three seasons in Memphis. He will undoubtedly be a hot name during the offseason to fill another team's vacancy at the position. He may also go back to being an assistant coach for a good team if something opens up.
