At a relatively short 5'9", Boston Celtics star point guard Isaiah Thomas is certainly not short on confidence. This year he was an All-Star for the first time and led the team to the postseason for the second straight year. Thomas says the Celtics will be one of the best teams this season and they should be with all the draft assets they have and that big Al Horford signing over the summer.

Thomas also said that he should be considered among the elite point guards in the league and had quite an interesting quote about it when he talked to Celtics.com's Amanda Pflugrad:
"All I'm going to say is men lie, women lie, numbers don't. My numbers stack up against all those other guys, those other top superstar guys, I guess you'd say. At the end of the day, I'm just going to continue to work and continue to show that I'm just as good as any other point guard in the NBA."
Playing in all 82 games during the regular season, Thomas averaged 22.2 points, 6.2 assists and 1.1 steals in 32.2 minutes a game. He also shot 42.8 percent from the floor overall and 35.9 percent from beyond the arc. That's a better three-point percentage than Kyrie irving and John Wall, both of whom are considered elite point guards.
While Thomas isn't exactly an MVP-type of point guard, the case can certainly be made that he is right to assume a spot as an elite point guard. He makes his team considerably better and almost matched a career-high in assists with 6.2 a game last season. The East better be ready because there are few things scarier than a confident Isaiah Thomas and a team that can back it up.
