According to ESPN, the four-time NBA All-Star intends to sign a four-year contract worth approximately $212 million to remain with the Wizards. The deal reportedly includes a player option for the final season.

The agreement comes after Young declined his $49 million player option ahead of free agency.

While the contract falls short of the maximum extension Young could have signed with Washington, it reportedly matches the maximum value he would have received elsewhere.

Young was traded to Washington from the Atlanta Hawks in January after spending the first eight seasons of his career in Atlanta. The veteran point guard appeared in only a handful of games for the Wizards after returning from a knee injury, but the organization apparently saw enough to make him a centerpiece of its future plans.

Washington is counting on Young to help guide one of the league's youngest rosters, which already includes promising talents such as Alex Sarr, Kyshawn George, Bub Carrington, Tre Johnson and Will Riley.

The Wizards also hold the No. 1 overall pick in Tuesday's NBA Draft, giving the franchise another cornerstone piece to add alongside its growing core.

Young's decision is notable considering the uncertainty that surrounded his future just months ago. Injuries limited him last season, and his tenure in Atlanta ended earlier than many expected.

But according to ESPN, Young pushed for a move to Washington and now appears fully invested in helping accelerate the franchise's rebuild.

The Wizards also believe a healthy Young alongside veteran big man Anthony Davis can help the team take a significant step forward.
