So far the team has not had their three best players share the court together, as Joel Embiid, Paul George, and Tyrese Maxey have each battled injuries.
Following their 106-89 loss to the Miami Heat, veteran guard Kyle Lowry called for a team meeting.
And this is when 24-year-old Maxey addressed the elephant in the room, that Embiid is not being held to the same standard as the rest of the players.
In particular, it was discussed about how the 2022-23 NBA MVP was late "for everything," and how this affects players, coaches, and the rest of the staff.
In addition, the players told head coach Nick Nurse that they wanted to be coached harder, while the coaches then said they want the players to practice with purpose and more attention to detail (per ESPN).
Evidently, Embiid listened and heard the message loud and clear, however, he did voice his confusion with the team's on-the-court schemes.
The chemistry with the newly constructed roster will take some time getting used to as long-time teammates Embiid and Maxey will have to adjust to playing alongside their new superstar Paul George.
With this in mind, the organization hopes this pairing will be what is finally able to put them over the edge, as previous stars such as: James Harden, Jimmy Butler, and Ben Simmons all didn't pan out.
Certainly, the first step is getting healthy, as George suffered a bone bruise before the season and has played in just six of 13 games. Then Maxey suffered a hamstring injury on November 6 in a game vs. the LA Clippers. Lastly, Embiid has only played in three games this year due to "knee injury management" and was suspended for three games after shoving 76ers reporter Marcus Hayes.
To note, in the three games Embiid did play this season, the team is 0-3, and the 30-year-old superstar has averaged a mere 14.7 points (32.4% FG), 6.3 rebounds, and 4.0 assists.
The team's next chance to turn things around will come when they play vs. the Grizzlies on Wednesday November 19 at 8:00 pm ET.
