Sports fans have often sparked criticism for how they interact with players from opposing teams. This went to another level on Wednesday after the New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs faced off in an NBA Finals game.

Victor Wembanyama, center for the Spurs, walked through the night with many people surrounding him after the 107-106 loss to the Knicks. Many basketball fans flipped him off, but he paid them no mind.
Suddenly, an egg flew through the air and hit Wemby in the back of the head. He did not turn around; instead, he just kept walking before a man in a suit walked up to him. Wemby appeared to shove the man away, but police officers blocked the full view.

As expected, this incident sparked arguments on social media. Some approved of the egging while accusing Wemby of intentionally trying to injure members of the Knicks during NBA Finals games. Others criticized the incident while saying that this is just an NBA series.
"As a Knicks fan, I absolutely hate this," one person wrote on X. "I dont like what Wemby is doing on the court. It pisses me off. But game is settled between the lines.
"Never take sports anger outside the arena. Whether it is fans or players, win and lose with class folks. Dont be a-holes."
This NBA Finals series between the Spurs and Knicks has delivered plenty of drama, and Wednesday night's game served as a fitting example. This game featured the Knicks rallying back from a 29-point deficit during the fourth quarter.
Wemby and the Spurs took a 76-49 lead into halftime, and then they built the lead to 29 points by the end of the third quarter. The Spurs did not maintain this lead. They gave up the biggest halftime lead in NBA Finals history, and then they watched as OG Anunoby scored the game-winning tip-in with 1.2 seconds remaining in the game.
The Knicks now have a 3-1 lead in the series. They can clinch the title with a win on Saturday night. The Spurs can force Game 6 with a win.
