The Warriors player remained on the ground for several minutes after the non-contact injury. Trainers ultimately gathered around him before bringing out the stretcher. They took Moody off the court before play ultimately resumed.
Moody had an X-ray after the game. He then traveled back to the Bay Area with the team so that he could have an MRI done. This would provide further information about the severity of the injury.
"We don't know what it is, but it sure looked bad," Warriors coach Steve Kerr said after the overtime win. "Just hoping for the best."
Moody, the 14th overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, is currently in his fifth season with the team. He has appeared in 60 games while starting 49. He has averaged 11.9 points per game and has completed 52.2% of his two-point attempts.
This knee injury occurred after Moody returned from another ailment. He had previously missed 10 games while recovering from a right wrist sprain.
Injuries have become an issue for the Warriors. The team already lost Jimmy Butler to a torn ACL and Al Horford to a calf strain.
Team leader Steph Curry is continuing to deal with a patella-femoral pain syndrome/bone bruising in his right knee. He has missed 22 games so far after last playing on Jan. 30 against Detroit.
Curry has made progress in his recovery. He has taken part in individual on-court workouts while moving closer to full team practices. He is set for further evaluation after the trip to Dallas and the win over the Mavericks.
The Warriors will continue the season at home on Wednesday night. The team will host the Nets at the Chase Center in San Francisco, California.
