The ongoing Draymond Green and Jusuf Nurkic saga appears to add more layers and become more vitriolic with each passing week and now Green's former teammate Kevin Durant has been tied in to the drama.
During during a Tuesday episode of "The Draymond Green Show", Green started his scorched earth rant by responding to the comments that Nurkic had about him after their most recent on-court clashes.
"Following the game, the little guy goes in the media and he says, 'I take my words back," Green said. "Frankly, I'd like to know why it's only a matter of time before I hit someone else, because I destroyed him.
"What happened in the game that would make you say that, other than you getting embarrassed because you're just not good enough?" Green continued. "He starts to question my character. What a coward."
While it could have been expected that Green would have some choice words regarding Nurkic, Green's subsequent string of disses toward Durant — who Green won two NBA championships with in 2017 and 2018, and appeared to have a great relationship with back then — came out of nowhere.
"[Nurkic] and Kevin [Durant] questioning my character before, as if you're going to question somebody's character by the basketball game as if it's not real life," Green said. "As if that don't affect people's pockets. Like, I think all of it was really cowardly if you want my honest opinion."
Green then added on to that sentiment, saying, "All of that was a little brewed up, little built up tension. Because, again, you go question somebody's character, you got my phone number. If you hope I 'get the help I need', you got my phone number. Hit me and say that. So like I said, I thought it was all cowardly. And that's where those emotions came from."
Thankfully, Green's emotions didn't result in another violent outburst toward Nurkic (or Durant) during their most recent game.
Although those two teams don't face each other again during the regular season, both Golden State and Phoenix are currently in playoff contention, and could perhaps match up in the playoffs.
Even if not, Green will surely see Nurkic and Durant next season — and by the looks of it, tensions will still be simmering whenever that next game takes place.
