Russell Westbrook may have retired from the NBA last month, but his relationship with wife Nina Westbrook goes back to well before he became one of basketball's biggest stars.

In fact, basketball helped bring them together.

Nina, formerly Nina Earl, played college basketball at UCLA, where she met Russell while both were students. The longtime couple married in August 2015 at the Beverly Hills Hotel.

They now have three children: son Noah, born in 2017, and twin daughters Skye and Jordyn, born in 2018.

Nina has built an impressive career of her own.

She earned a master's degree in clinical psychology and became a licensed marriage and family therapist, with mental health and relationships becoming a significant part of her professional work.

Nina is also an entrepreneur. Her ventures have included children's clothing brand Minibrook, lifestyle boutique The Little Ark and Bene by Nina, a platform centered on mental health and wellness.

She has also used her background to discuss relationships and parenting publicly, including through her podcast, The Relationship Chronicles.

The Westbrooks have been active in philanthropy as well, with Nina working alongside Russell through his Why Not? Foundation, which focuses on education and opportunities for children and underserved communities.

Through all the moves, teams and changes that came with Westbrook's NBA career, Nina remained a constant. That career officially ended in August, when Westbrook announced his retirement after 18 NBA seasons.

The two started as college athletes at UCLA, married after years together and celebrated their 11th wedding anniversary in August 2026.

Not exactly your typical NBA love story. But after all these years, it's certainly one of the league's longest-running ones.
