According to the San Francisco police department, the 23-year-old was on his way to a signing event, when someone tried to steal his Rolex watch.

Reportedly, there was a physical altercation over a gun, and Pearsall ended up being shot in the chest.

That is to say, the police were quick to the scene, as the suspect was arrested, and later was taken to the hospital for injuries he sustained (per Fox KTVU).

As for Pearsall, even after being shot, he was able to walk to the ambulance under his own power.

The San Francisco mayor released a statement following the incident.

"My thoughts are with Ricky and his family at this time... We will provide more updates, including on his condition, as I receive them."

All in all, Pearsall appears to be in stable condition, and seemingly will be able to make a full recovery. With this in mind, he previously missed the whole preseason with a shoulder injury, but just recently was cleared to practice. His recovery, now following the gun wound, will be monitored.

Deebo Samuel, Pearsall's 49ers wide receiver counterpart, showed relief over the shooting not being fatal, as he posted on his X account, "He's good. Thank God!!!!"

After being selected with the 31st pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, Pearsall now joins Samuel and the rest of the highly regarded receiving core that features newly re-signed WR Brandon Aiyuk, who just agreed to a four-year/$120 million dollar contract extension.

During his senior year at the University of Florida, the 6-foot-1 speedster caught 65 passes for 965 yards and four touchdowns, in addition to scoring two rushing TD's.
