According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the belief around the league is that Rodgers plans to decide by mid-March whether he is playing another season or walking away. And right now, the expectation is that he is more likely than not to re-sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Steelers general manager Omar Khan added fuel to that idea at the combine, saying neither side wants this to drag on like last year. Which sounds great in theory. With Rodgers, timelines tend to be more... philosophical.

This is the same quarterback who once disappeared into a darkness retreat thinking retirement and emerged open to a trade. The same one who left Pittsburgh waiting deep into the offseason last year while everyone else ran OTAs.

Still, circumstances have changed. The Steelers hired Mike McCarthy, Rodgers' former coach in Green Bay. Two MVPs. One Super Bowl. Plenty of scars too. Time has a way of sanding those edges down.

There is also a lurking alternative. The Minnesota Vikings could explore adding competition after an uneven first season from J.J. McCarthy. Rodgers reportedly wanted Minnesota last year.

The league would love clarity. The Steelers would too.

With Rodgers, nothing is simple. But the clock is finally ticking. Again.
