Aaron Rodgers Slams Report, Says No Decision On Next Season, But Jets Would Be Priority

Aaron Rodgers isn't about to let the rumor mill write the story of his career. Appearing on The Pat McAfee Show, the four-time NFL MVP didn't hold back in addressing a report from The Athletic's Dianna Russini, which suggested he's eyeing the 2025 season — but not with the New York Jets.

Rodgers slammed the report as "100 percent false" and made it clear that, while his football future remains uncertain, if he does decide to play, the Jets remain his top choice.

"I'm not jumping ship," Rodgers said firmly. "I don't even know if I want to play yet, but New York would be my first option." That's about as direct as it gets, even for a player who's never been shy about speaking his mind.

Rodgers also emphasized that his decision isn't just about him. He acknowledged the Jets have decisions to make after what he described as a season of "clearing house" when it comes to coaching and personnel. The quarterback is clearly paying attention to how the organization plans to set itself up for success — and whether it aligns with his own vision.

Despite the turbulence — including his Achilles injury in 2023 and the team's lackluster performance this year — Rodgers described his time with the Jets as "two really beautiful years." That says a lot about his commitment to the franchise, even as speculation swirls about his plans.

At this stage, Rodgers isn't ruling anything out, but his loyalty to the Jets appears genuine. If New York can deliver on making the right moves in the offseason, it seems Rodgers could be back in green — provided he decides to suit up at all. For now, Jets fans can take solace in knowing Rodgers isn't itching to jump ship.
