Aaron, 41, was placed on life support in an Atlanta hospital after suffering a severe blood infection, per TMZ and a GoFundMe page created to help cover mounting medical expenses. His manager said the incident began when Aaron collapsed at home after his legs suddenly gave out while walking up the stairs.
The fundraiser describes the situation as "sudden, frightening, and overwhelming," noting that Aaron's family is facing emotional strain and significant financial pressure as doctors continue running tests to determine the underlying cause.
Despite the seriousness of the situation, there is some encouraging news. Aaron is reportedly in stable condition, communicating with loved ones, and receiving appropriate medical care as physicians evaluate next steps.
Aaron rose to national fame for his portrayal of Michael Oher in the 2009 Oscar-winning film The Blind Side, starring opposite Sandra Bullock. The movie chronicled Oher's path from homelessness to becoming a first-round NFL Draft pick and eventual eight-year pro career.
In recent years, Aaron has also faced multiple health challenges, including prior respiratory issues and a hospitalization in 2025 for flu-like complications. He had recently shared a major weight loss milestone, shedding roughly 200 pounds.
