Multi-platinum artist Nick Lachey voices frustration after Bengals loss

Nick Lachey has experienced a lot of success as a musician and member of 98 Degrees, but he has also experienced frustration as a fan of the Cincinnati Bengals. This is something he made clear on Sunday afternoon.

"Wow, what an inspired effort today in front of the home fans to close out this miserable season," Lachey posted on X. "Nice to see Zac (Taylor, head coach) hasn't lost the team.....what a joke. I'm sure nothing will change. Can't wait for more of this next year!"

This post followed a Week 18 loss to the rival Cleveland Browns. The Bengals took the lead with 1:29 remaining in the game. Quarterback Joe Burrow threw a touchdown pass to wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase to make the score 18-17. The two-point conversion attempt failed.

All the Bengals had to do to secure one last win this season was stop the Browns. The defense fell short of this goal as rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders led a drive from his own 29-yard line to the Bengals 31-yard line. Andre Szmyt then nailed the game-winning field goal.

The loss, which happened the same day that Myles Garrett broke the single-season sack record, dropped the Bengals to 6-11 on the season and moved the Browns to 5-12. This marked the third losing season in Taylor's seven-year tenure as head coach.

Sunday afternoon is not the first time that Lachey has voiced frustrations about the Bengals this season. He made a sarcastic comment after learning that his favorite NFL team had the worst scoring defense in the last 50 years.

He also took to X after the Ravens beat the Bengals 24-0 on Dec. 14. This is a game that the Bengals needed to win to potentially keep very faint playoff hopes alive. They failed to score a single point.

"INSANITY 'Doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results,'" Lachey posted. "Zac has to go. Change has to happen. Anything else is literally nuts."

Taylor now has a 52-63-1 record in his seven seasons. He has led the Bengals to the playoffs, which included an appearance in the Super Bowl. However, the team has not made the playoffs since the 2022 season.
