The Cleveland Browns defender was pulled over on an interstate in Northeast Ohio just before 2 a.m. on Feb. 21, per ESPN. He was traveling 94 mph in a 70-mph zone at the time.

Law enforcement issued him a citation for speeding and set a court date of March 10. However, Garrett can avoid this appearance in court if he pays the $155 fine.

This ticket marked the ninth time that the veteran NFL player has been cited for a traffic violation since he entered the league in 2017.

In October 2019, he was cited for going 91 mph in a 60-mph zone. In 2020, he was cited for driving 100 mph in a 65-mph zone. He had two separate violations in 2021, one for traveling 120 mph in a 70-mph zone and another for traveling 99 mph in a 70-mph zone.

Another traffic violation occurred after a single-car crash. He rolled his Porsche multiple times in 2022 after traveling 65 mph in a 45-mph zone. This crash led to multiple lacerations and a bruised forehead. He also strained his shoulder and biceps, ultimately missing one game.

Speaking with reporters after the crash, Garrett called it a "hell of an event" and said that he was grateful to be alive after seeing the pictures.

"I don't think it takes something as drastic as this to tell me I need to slow down," Garrett said in 2022, per The Athletic. "This is definitely a call to me to be safer with my driving, pay attention to my speed and my surroundings."

Fast-forward to August 2025, and Garrett received another ticket for speeding. This time, he drove 100 mph. Reporters asked him multiple questions at the time about the traffic violation, but he shot down those questions.

"I'd honestly rather talk about football and this team than anything I'm doing off (the) field, other than the back-to-school event that I did the other day," Garrett said in August.

"People want to know a lot of things, but I try to keep my personal life personal. I'd rather focus on this team when I can."
