An all-time member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is calling it a career after 14 seasons. Lavonte David has officially announced his retirement from the NFL.

(Continue on for more details.) David made the news known on Tuesday as part of a press conference with the only NFL team he has ever known. He joined Derrick Brooks and Ronde Barber on the short list of players to suit up for the Buccaneers in at least 14 seasons.
David, a second-round pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, walks away from the league after a career in which he posted 1,716 combined tackles and more than 1,100 by himself. He posted at least 100 tackles in 12 of his 14 seasons while showcasing an ability to stay healthy and on the field.
The veteran linebacker also tallied 33 forced fumbles, 21 fumble recoveries, and 42.5 sacks. He added two interceptions and 79 quarterback hits.

David, a First-Team All-Pro selection in 2013, also achieved postseason success. He helped the Buccaneers during the run in 2020. He played in all four games while registering a sack, 26 tackles, four passes defensed, and a quarterback hit. He ended that season as a Super Bowl champion.
