Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid has spoken to reporters and provided an update after the wife of offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy was hospitalized with serious injuries.

Mia Bieniemy, 57, was shot at the couple's home in Loudon County, Virginia on Sunday. She was transported to the hospital to be treated for serious injuries.
The Loudon County Sheriff's Office said that the couple's 27-year-old son, Elijah Zion Bieniemy, was arrested. He faces charges of Malicious Wounding, Use of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony, and Discharge of a Firearm Inside of a Dwelling.
"Our hearts to go out to Eric Bieniemy and his family," Reid said as he stepped to the podium. "Our thoughts and prayers are with them. I can't get into details on it, but things happen sometimes, and Eric will work through it. He has a great support group here, as does his family, as needed.
"We'll just let time take care of it from there. Mia is stable, which is a plus, so is Eric Jr."

Reid continued and explained that he had first heard about the tragedy the night before the training camp session. He added that Mia "is a saint and one of God's good blessings."
The head coach didn't provide details about Bieniemy's schedule moving forward, but he indicated that the veteran OC will have time to spend with his family back in Virginia.
"We all love EB (Bieniemy), and we all hate seeing these kinds of things happen."
The veteran offensive coordinator reunited with the Kansas City Chiefs this offseason after three seasons split between the Washington Commanders, UCLA Bruins, and Chicago Bears.
His first tenure with the Chiefs lasted 10 years (2013-22). He first coach running backs and then took over as offensive coordinator in 2018. The Chiefs reached the Super Bowl three times while running Bieniemy's offense, and they won twice.
