The 99-minute documentary focuses on far more than Elway's championship-winning career as a quarterback for the Denver Broncos. It also dives into his life away from the Mile High City, as well as the New York Yankees drafting him to play baseball. "Elway" also focuses on his role in memorable college football games, and his life as a team executive.
Through it all, the Washington native will provide his insight into the biggest moments of his career, which include some heartbreaking losses in the Super Bowl and many struggles in his personal life.
"For me, looking over the last 50 years, my whole life, winning was the most important thing," Elway said in the documentary's trailer. "I think that was at the sacrifice to my family."

The Netflix documentary includes interviews with some big names in the sports world. This includes ESPN insider Adam Schefter, former Broncos head coach Mike Shanahan, and former Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak.
A former standout for Stanford, Elway entered the NFL as the first overall pick of the 1983 NFL Draft. The Baltimore Colts selected him, but the team traded him to the Denver Broncos six days later. He and his father made it clear that he would not suit up for the then-east coast team.
This move kicked off a 16-year run in Denver, which featured 148 regular-season wins and nine trips to the Pro Bowl. The Broncos made the playoffs 10 times with Elway under center and the Super Bowl five times.
They went 2-3 in the biggest game of the NFL season, including back-to-back wins to close out the 1997 and 1998 seasons. Elway then retired from the NFL after securing his second Lombardi Trophy, but he ultimately became an executive for the Broncos.
He then helped guide the team through a unique stretch featuring Tim Tebow winning a playoff game, a record-breaking season with Peyton Manning, a blowout Super Bowl loss to the Seahawks, and a dominant Super Bowl win over the Panthers.
"John Elway's career isn't just iconic, it's darn near mythological," said director Ken Rodgers. "His physical abilities, mental toughness, and raw determination are the stuff of legend. We are all honored to partner with Netflix to tell the story of the man behind the legend."
