Apparently former NFL head coach Eric Mangini isn't a big fan of Patrick Mahomes.

During a "First Things First" segment on Fox Sports 1, Eric Mangini and Chris Broussard discussed which players should be added to Broussard's "Under Duress" list heading into the Divisional Round of the NFL Playoffs. In his analysis, Mangini said Patrick Mahomes should be added to it because, in his opinion, Mahomes' play led the Kansas City Chiefs to have to play his first-ever road playoff game, which is against the Bills.
Eric Mangini thinks Patrick Mahomes should be added to @Chris_Broussard's Under Duress list 🤔
"You know why the Chiefs are on the road? Because of Patrick Mahomes. If you're the greatest of all time like @getnickwright claims you are, it's time for you to be the greatest of all… pic.twitter.com/SU4kXUymVJ

"You know why the Chiefs are on the road? Because of Patrick Mahomes. If you're the greatest of all time like [Nick Wright] claims you are, it's time for you to be the greatest of all time," the former New York Jets and Cleveland Browns head coach said.
Mangini then discusses a graphic that shows Mahomes' games with a passing rating of less than 80.
According to the graphic, Mahomes had ten games from 2018-22 with a pass rating under 80; this season, he had seven games.
He then brings up another graphic showing Mahomes' playoff game last week at home against the Miami Dolphins compared to the Super Bowl runs in 2019, 2021, and 2022.
Thus far this postseason, Mahomes has played just one game, but in that game, he completed 56.1% of his passes, throwing for 261 yards and a touchdown in a frigid victory over the Miami Dolphins.
Fans on X had split opinions of the former coach's comments.
Literally 3 moments where WRs cost the #Chiefs homefield advantage:
- Wk1: Ball goes off Toney's hands and is returned for pick 6.
- Wk11: TD pass goes right through MVS's hands.
- Wk14: Toney lines up offsides, negating TD.
Those 3 plays were the difference in 11-6 and 14-3

I like Mangini’s comments. Always balanced. Astute.
I am a huge Mahomes fan, but I have zero problems with this call. #NFL

"The idea that Mahomes is the reason the chiefs are bad this year when without him they'd be 4-13 having a bottom 5 offensive talent roster in the league is just comical coming from somebody who coached football in the NFL. Brady fans always insecure," one user wrote.
There’s a reason you no longer coach, Mangini… It’s because of you and your lack of recognition of top talent when you see it. Your eyes fail you. Mahomes is the best QB to ever walk this planet and there has been a lot of them.

The Chiefs head to Buffalo to take on the Bills on Sunday, January 21, at 6:30 pm ET. The Bills beat the Chiefs earlier this season in Kansas City following wide receiver Kadarius Toney being penalized for being offside on a play that resulted in a touchdown.
