Patrick Mahomes continued to add to his legacy early on in Thursday's game against the Baltimore Ravens. The All-Pro quarterback broke the all-time Kansas City Chiefs' passing yards record on a second-quarter 23-yard connection with his favorite target, Travis Kelce. The record was previously held by Len Dawson (28,507), who spent 14 years with the organization.

Mahomes entered the night needing just 83 yards to do so. The 28-year-old now is the only active quarterback to hold his franchise's all-time record for passing yards, which speaks to a few things, namely how good he is and how few great quarterbacks the Chiefs have had in their history.
One former quarterback with the Chiefs, Alex Smith, shared a video that was posted on the Chiefs official X account after Mahomes' record-breaking throw. Smith, who finished with 35,650 career passing yards, spent five seasons with the club before Mahomes entered the picture. He sent his congrats with a joke and some very high praise.

"I only got one question for you," Smith started. "What took you so long? In all seriousness, what you have done for this team, for this city, and for everyone whose ever worn a Chiefs jersey is nothing short of incredible. You make us all proud both on and off the field."
Smith continued, "From the beginning, we all knew that you were going to take this franchise to new heights and that's exactly what you've done. Keep doing what you're doing man. I'm proud and beyond happy for everything you have accomplished, and here's to many more records."

The two played together in 2017 when Smith started 15 of the 16 games. The following season, Smith left for Washington, and Mahomes' historic run with the Chiefs was set to begin.
