Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith may have taken a whole season's worth of vicious blows to the head in just two quarters of football Sunday.
In the first quarter against the Indianapolis, Smith was on the receiving end of a frightful hit from Colts linebacker Edwin Jackson that he struggled to get up from him.
He left the game and returned in the third quarter only to take a similar hit from safety Clayton Geathers while scrambling out of the pocket and attempting to slide.
Smith left the game for a second time, but would not return. He was replaced by Nick Foles and is currently going the through the league's concussion protocol again.
He was cleared later and had a laceration on his ear.
